Latest Roasting I visited at CuppaChoice Cafe

2kg Has Garanti Drum Roaster

Ian, Wan, Suhaimie, Fad observing and listening for the first crack

The temperature of the drum is at least 150 degrees Celsius prior to releasing the fist batch of beans. Temperature of the drum is critical so as not to "shock" the raw beans.; sudden change in temperature.

Observing the size of the flame
It is important for coffee roaster to observe the size of the flame. The size of flame will affect the rate of heat transfered to the drum.

How i missed being a barista.

A visit to CuppaChoice Cafe brought me the memories I had as a Coffee Barista. Making delicious cup of coffee, roasting and cupping them. The interaction with new coffee lovers and getting to know Baristas in Singapore. Gosh..i miss those times! I never showed how much i missed and enjoyed being a Barista but deep inside i really do.

I'm currently serving National Service, time is restricted for me to do "coffee stuff" ; cafe visits, coffee cupping/tasting, roasting, latte art, roasting coffee with my pop-corn maker.. The machine at home broke down and yet to repair and pay off the loan.I hope i will get back into that path before I'm convinced to be an Army regular.
SNBC (Singapore National Barista Competition) is coming soon and I can't make it to watch it either. Well life still have to go on. Looking on the bright side, I'm fitter and slimmer than before =P
